Spring Nature School Session (MANSFIELD)
Firefliez Nature School is a unique and enriching program designed to foster a deep connection with the natural world while emphasizing community, homeschooling, nature, art, and STEM education.
Firefliez Nature School is focused on learning about the nature that surrounds us, exploring the world around us, and playing or crafting with natural materials. We are very immersive. You will not be in a classroom- you will be outside the entire class.
This spring we will watch nature come alive again after the hard winter months.
We start off with a quick science based lesson, move on to a hike and exploration, then we do a related STEM or art activity.
This class is geared towards Kindergarten -5rd graders. HOWEVER if you have kids older and or younger they are welcome to join and participate.
If you only have children under 5 my Wonder Walks class may be a better fit for you.
For the Spring we will be exploring (not in this order)
Rocks and Minerals
Vernal Pools
Mud Science
Pond life and pond dipping
Currently TBA
This class is EVERY OTHER WEEK on either Monday at 1:00 pm or Tuesday 10:30am for 5 sessions starting on March 31st. The location will be Gorman Nature Center. The class typically lasts for 1.5 hours but I do not rush the kids exploration or play.
Monday classes will be:
3/31, 4/14, 4/28, 5/12, 5/19 (the last two are a week apart due to Memorial Day)
Tuesday classes will be:
4/1, 4/15, 4/29, 5/13, 5/27
There is no official supply list but there are a few things you might want to make your explorations easier such as coloring utensils, a notebook, and clipboard (small size is fine).
This is not a drop off class. Parents are expected to stay and help their children with their explorations.
A private facebook group and remind app will be used for communication within the group.
