Advanced Nature School - Nature Journaling and Art
I am so excited to offer advanced nature classes for the older kiddos.
If your child loves spending time outside and is eager to explore nature through art and science, our Advanced Nature School is the perfect fit! This immersive, hands-on program is designed for kids ages 10 and up who are ready to take their love for the outdoors to the next level. Get ready for a truly unique learning experience where nature is our classroom, and every lesson happens in the wild!
What You'll Learn:
Nature Journaling & Art: Enhance your observation skills and creativity through detailed journaling and artistic expression. Learn how to capture the beauty and complexity of nature through sketching, watercolor, and mixed media techniques.
Infographics & Maps: Develop practical skills in designing nature-infographics and maps to visually communicate scientific data. Learn how to use mathematical and spatial reasoning to create informative and visually stunning representations of nature.
Field Guides & Scientific Drawings: Dive into the world of field guides and scientific illustration. Learn how to document and identify flora, fauna, and geological features.
Math & Science in Nature: Use mathematical and scientific principles to explore topics like ecosystems, geology, biodiversity, and environmental patterns. Create dynamic projects that blend real-world data with creative design.
Cross-Disciplinary Skills: Strengthen your understanding of language, math, and science while engaging in nature-based activities that challenge your analytical and creative abilities.
This class will take place once a month on Tuesdays at 1:30pm April -August
The location will be Gorman Nature Center 2295 Lexington Ave, Mansfield, OH 44906
Tentative Dates are as follows:
4/8, 5/13, 6/17, 7/22, 8/19
These dates could change due to storms or illness, there will be a makeup date should that occur.
Journals will be provided. However I recommend purchasing your own drawing supplies and watercolor set. Any other art supplies needed for extra projects will be provided.
This is not a drop off class. Parents must stay on site. You can join in with class (many parents enjoy my classes as well) or do your own thing at the Nature Center but you must remain there. If you would like to join and have kiddos under 10 I am happy to provide coloring pages or other activities for them too or they may play in the wooded play area by the pavilion. Please let me know if this is the case so I am prepared.
A private Facebook group and remind app will be used for communication within the group.
