Fall Nature School

Where Wonder and Science Meet

This class is perfect if your child...

  • Loves searching, exploring, and making discoveries outdoors
  • Learns best through movement and hands-on experiences
  • Asks endless questions about plants, animals, and the natural world
  • Enjoys experiments, challenges, collecting, building, and creating
This class may not be for you if your child:
  • Is very uncomfortable with dirt, insects, changing weather, or uneven trails
  • prefers quiet learning

What does a day at Nature School look like?

  • A short, engaging science lesson
  • A guided field investigation or nature challenge
  • Close observation using specimens, field tools, or identification guides
  • A hands-on experiment, STEM challenge, game, or creative project
  • Time for exploration, play, and connection with other homeschoolers.

Every class is designed to be active, engaging, and meaningful.

Here is what we will be exploring this Fall!

This Fall, the woods become our laboratory as we investigate transformation, tree history, changing ecosystems, and the surprising ways plants travel

🐛 Caterpillars: Moth or Butterfly?
🌳 Dendrochronology: Reading the Story of a Tree
🌿 Invasive Species Investigators
🌱 Seeds on the Move

(Lessons may shift slightly based on weather, seasonal discoveries, specimen availability, and park conditions. Unexpected discoveries are part of the Nature School experience!)

Why families love this class?

  • Real Science: Lessons are created by a former scientist with a background in biology, chemistry, and toxicology.
  • Children Learn by Doing: Students search, compare, classify, test, build, and investigate rather than completing stacks of worksheets.
  • The Outdoors Becomes the Laboratory: Children encounter science through real trees, seeds, insects, habitats, specimens, and seasonal changes.
  • Small and Personal: A small-group environment gives children room to participate, ask questions, and make friends.

More than nature play. Science children can touch, test, and remember.

spring nature school

Hi, I’m Jennifer—a homeschool mom, former chemist, and the founder of Wonder Wilds Nature School.

With a background in biology, toxicology, and chemistry, I created Nature School to give children the kind of science education they remember: science they can observe, investigate, question, and experience for themselves.

For the past six years, I have helped local homeschool families learn through outdoor investigations, experiments, nature study, creative projects, and meaningful seasonal discoveries.

My goal is not simply to teach children facts about nature. It is to help them become confident observers, thoughtful investigators, and lifelong learners.

Frequently asked questions

What happens in bad weather?

Nature School will continue to run as long as there are no dangerous storms, high winds, or temperatures under 22 degrees. Please make sure you are prepared for all weather.

Absolutely, older and younger siblings are welcome to attend as well.

For NATURE SCHOOL the price is per family. It is one flat fee of $75.

I do not cap the age on this group however if your child would enjoy deeper topics, more advanced science, drawing and watercolor techniques then my Advanced Class might be a better fit.

I provide all basic supplies for this class however kids love to bring collection bags, magnifying glasses, water bottle, and extra clothes.
